Boomer was having a rough morning Tuesday – “maybe it’s because I spent 24 hours with Phil Simms over the weekend,” he said – and so Simms apparently sent Boomer a text calling him whiny!

That didn’t go over well, so Simms just had to call in to chat about it.

“When I sent that text message, you big fat Nordic head, you’re not supposed to read them over the air!” Simms said. “Moaning about everything, complaining, come on!”

Okay, it was all in fun somewhat as Boomer and Phil are good friends, and after the two of them jawed back and forth a bit, they had to discuss some football, specifically the question on Boomer’s mind all morning: would you rather have Daniel Jones or Kyler Murray as QB of the Giants?

“I heard somebody call in about this…I’m staying with Daniel Jones, don’t even have to think about it,” Simms said. “If you bring Murray in, you have to bring in a coach for him, and rebuild the offense for him – Arizona has had good success with what they’re doing, last night aside, but the offense is really specific for Kyler Murray. You don’t see a lot of plays down the field, so I wouldn’t do it.”

Boomer never really answered the question because Jones gets an “incomplete,” but he later agreed with Simms, who made it all a moot point:

“This isn’t going to happen, so why are we even talking about it?” Simms asked.

That said, Phil also admitted that right now, “there’s no doubt” Murray is the better overall QB, and had an explanation for the season-ending tailspins Arizona seems to have that trouble Boomer.

“I watched them play during the year, and they have that offense that’s very specific to their offense, so maybe teams catch on to it a bit and play differently,” Simms said. “I thought Kliff Kingsbury was changing and getting more normal plays; everybody in the NFL has a certain package of plays they run and copy, but you don’t see these plays in Arizona’s offense.”
