It doesn’t sound like Steelers coach Mike Tomlin is confident in either Mason Rudolph or Dwayne Haskins being the everyday starter for the team next season.

Speaking during his final press conference of the year, Tomlin said that “all options are on the table” when it comes to the quarterback position. He added they are moving forward assuming Ben Roethlisberger will officially retire.

“Both guys, Mason and Dwayne have had their moments but they’ll have to prove that and not only in . . . the team development process, but through playing itself,” said Tomlin. “They’re guys that start that I wouldn’t characterize as everyday starters.”

Tomlin says each will have an opportunity to prove themselves next season. Rudolph is the only quarterback currently under contract for 2022.

Tomlin adds he is open to all possible opportunities at the quarterback position that includes finding a rookie in the draft, free agency or through a trade.

He also continued to talk about the importance of having a mobile quarterback as the next starter for the Steelers as well.

“Man quarterback mobility is valued, not only by me but everyone it’s just a component of today’s game and increasingly so,” said Tomlin.

It going to be an interesting offseason for the Steelers and all eyes will be on the quarterback position.
