Here's some good news for those looking for a new kind of gaming experience. The survival game Aquamarine is coming to PC through Steam. There's even better news since the wait won't be that long with its arrival, January 20 or this Thursday.

The game has players explore a world overrun by nature, and they need to fight to survive and find their way back home. While the game offers turn-based exploration mechanics, it adds some unique features inspired by the psychedelic sci-fi of the 70s and 80s. Aquamarine has the elements of exploration, puzzle-solving, and strategy games, mixed with open-end survival mechanics along with a mystery of classic adventures.

Before we take a closer look into the game, you should know that a version for consoles is being developed. It's expected to release later this year, but no actual date has been announced.

The game has players take on the role of a space traveler known as The Seeker. While orbiting an uncharted planet covered in water, her spaceship is suddenly intercepted by a malicious signal. Having no choice but to eject from her now malfunctioning ship, she's stuck on a tiny island surrounded by an endless alien ocean. With the amphibious survival pod at her side, she now works to learn more about the lost history of this alien planet while learning why she ended here.

Below are some of the game's features:

  • Unlock the secrets of the alien planet reclaimed by nature:
    • Perform a careful study and do clever interactions with the living ecosystem.
    • Learn how to adapt to the challenges of each area in search of the way home.
    • Discover mysterious secrets and solve environmental puzzles to move forward.
  • Cultivate a variety of strange plants, each having its own unique attributes:
    • Explore the depths for food and tools that can help you survive this alien planet.
    • Collect and craft powerful upgrades for the escape pod.
    • Customize the loadout to fit the needs of every plunge into the water.

Here are the PC specifications:

  • OS: Windows 7
  • Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E5200
  • Memory: 4 GB RAM
  • Graphics: GeForce 9800 GTX+ (1 GB)
  • DirectX: Version 10
