'I've complained to Ofcom!' Furious Emmerdale viewers vow to ditch the ITV soap after Olivia Flaherty, 19, is graphically beaten up by prison inmate in 'sickening' scenes
Emmerdale viewers have voiced their anger after fan favourite Olivia Flaherty (played by Isobel Steele) was brutally beaten up in Monday's episode.
The 19-year-old character, who has been wrongly imprisoned for the murder of Ben Tucker (Simon Lennon) instead of Meena Jutla (Paige Sandhu), was graphically battered by a fellow inmate.
After a close-up shot of her bloodied and bruised face was aired before the watershed, disturbed audiences vowed to ditch the soap in a slew of furious tweets.

'I've been an avid viewer for many years, but this ridiculous Meena storyline with more holes than swiss cheese, and now this to Liv at 7:25pm is this final straw for me. I've complained to Ofcom, and I'm voting with my remote, so long!'

A second added: 'There was absolutely no need for this, sorry but it's bad enough at anytime on TV but this is blooming Emmerdale not Peaky Blinders.'
Chiming in, a third wrote: 'I'm usually the one to say its not that bad, don't let your kids watch it then etc but this was just a bit too far even I felt a bit sick. One of the worst beat ups in a soap ever.'
Others penned: 'That was a horrible scene with Liv on the floor ffs.'
'That shot of Liv at the end of Emmerdale was horrific. This is a programme on at 7pm. Emmerdale is losing the plot.'
Mailonline has contacted representatives for Emmerdale and Ofcom for comment.
The heartbreaking tragedy came after Vinny Dingle (Bradley Johnson) received Liv's wrath for 'not helping her enough', during a prison visit.
It was here that he broke the news of Meena's sister Manpreet Sharma (Rebecca Sarker), who knew truth about her terrifying ways, still being in a coma after being run over by her former fiancé, Charles Anderson (Kevin Mathurin).
Mandy Dingle (Lisa Riley) said to a upset Vinny afterwards: 'Remember who we're talking about here. Next time you see her, everything could have changed.
'Manpreet could have woken up and spoke to the police. The coppers, they could have found more evidence. She's innocent.'
