Report: Bearcats Hire Kerry Coombs as Special Teams Coordinator/Cornerbacks Coach

The coach previously worked at Cincinnati from 2007 to 2011.

CINCINNATI — The coaching moves keep coming for Cincinnati football. ESPN's Pete Thamel is reporting that former Ohio State defensive coordinator Kerry Coombs is joining Luke Fickell's staff as cornerbacks coach and special teams coordinator.

UC needed to fill both positions after Perry Eliano and Brian Mason departed for different jobs. Fickell knocked both spots out with one veteran coach.

Bearcats fans will remember Coombs from his time as a UC position coach from 2007 to 2011. Coombs worked at Ohio State from 2012 to 2017 before spending a few seasons with the Tennessee Titans and making a return to Ohio State over the past two years as the Buckeyes' defensive coordinator.

He should bring another strong, respected voice to the recruiting trail as Cincinnati looks to capture its third consecutive AAC Championship.
