Purdue at Indiana: 2021-22 college basketball game preview, TV schedule

Purdue takes on Indiana in another match of one of the greatest rivalries in college basketball.

Location: Assembly Hall in Bloomington, Indiana

The Indiana Hoosiers go into this game with a record of13-4 on the season. Their four losses have been against Penn State, Iowa, Wisconsin, and Syracuse. The best win of the season for the Hoosiers has been against Ohio State. Indiana’s defense is 26th in the country at allowing points per game. The Hoosiers allow 62 points per game.

Offensively, the Hoosiers are led by Trayce Jackson-Davis. Jackson Davis is averaging 19 points per game on 60 percent shooting. Often the first option for the Hoosiers is getting the ball to Trayce in the post.  Indiana’s offense is also highly dependent on shooting threes as the help defender for Trayce comes from a man in the corner three spots.

The Purdue Boilermakers go into this game with a record of 15-2 on the season. Their two losses have come against Wisconsin and Rutgers. The Boilermaker’s best win of the season has come against Villanova. Purdue also had a very nice win against Illinois in double OT last Sunday. The Boilermakers go into this game ranked as 4th in the country.

Purdue’s offense is 4th in the country when it comes to points per game. The boilermakers average 85 points per game. Purdue is also 4th in assists and 10th in rebounds in the nation. The Boilermakers average 18 assists per game and 40 rebounds per game.  Purdue is led offensively by Jaden Ivey, Zack Edey, and Trevon Williams. Ivey averages 16 points per game on 50 percent shooting from the floor. Edey averages 15 points per game on 71 percent shooting from the floor. Williams averages 13 points per game on 61 percent shooting from the floor.

Indiana will need to make their three in this game to stand a chance against Purdue’s offense. Although players like Miller Kopp and Parker Stewart will make their three-point shots, Purdue offense will be too much for the Hoosiers.
