Comets Open Pool Play With Win at Litchfield Rick McGraw Memorial Invitational


The #8 seed Greenville Comets used a late run to get a 54-46 win over #9 seed Father McGivney in their opening pool play game of the Rick McGraw Memorial Invitational Tournament on Monday night.

With a little under 6 minutes to go in the game, Greenville trailed 40-35 and then, sparked by some timely 3-pointers from Landen Moss, went on a 12-4 run over the next 4 minutes to take a 47-44 lead and then continued that run outscoring the Griffins 7-2 over the final 1:40 to grab the 54-46 win. Landen Moss led the Comets with 14 points, Jack Schaufelberger finished with 13 points and Nick Grull and Kaleb Gardner each tallied 10 points in the game.

Greenville starts pool play at 1-0 and will take on top seeded Mattoon on Tuesday at 6:00pm.
