Utah Highway Patrol is on scene of a fatal car fire on the Interstate 15 northbound on-ramp from Bangerter Highway.
Emergency crews responded to reports of the crash and car fire at approximately 2:56 a.m. Tuesday.
Sgt. Cameron Roden with UHP told 2News that they are responding to a "single-vehicle fire" and said they "do not know if there was a collision at this time" but "there does appear to be a fatality".
Sgt. Roden later confirmed that an SUV was traveling northbound on the Interstate at a high rate of speed when it took the off-ramp to Bangerter.
The car failed to take the curve at the top of the ramp, went all the way across Bangerter, rolled over and crashed into the concrete barrier approximately halfway down the Interstate 15 on-ramp where it caught fire.
He also noted that other than the one confirmed fatal, there were no other injuries associated with the crash. The identity of the victim has not yet been released.
The Utah Department of Transportation stated that the vehicle fire has closed the northbound Interstate 15 exit and entrance ramps for Bangerter Highway in Draper.
UDOT also mentioned that the eastbound and westbound lanes are closed over the Interstate and to expect delays in the area.
All roadways have reopened after being closed for approximately four to five hours.
