FOX’s Colin Cowherd has absolutely absurd prediction about Patriots’ Mac Jones, Bill Belichick

New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick used the No. 15 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft on quarterback Mac Jones.

This is pretty outlandish, even for Colin Cowherd.

Of course, the FOX Sports talking head is free to say whatever he wants on his show. But what he dropped Monday was an utterly ridiculous hot take about the New England Patriots, who lost to the Buffalo Bills on Saturday, 47-17, in an AFC Wild Card Game. Per The Spun:

Bill Belichick has always viewed players as pieces, parts. He doesn’t get emotional,” Cowherd said on Monday. “He’s moved off great players, Pro Bowlers. He wanted to move off [Tom] Brady. He moved off [Jimmy] Garoppolo. [Josh] Allen in the last two games has been so devastating, unstoppable and jaw-dropping. Could Belichick, and this was a great defense, be thinking, ‘I probably gotta trade Mac Jones? Because if this is a gun fight, I’m not sufficiently armed.’”

The Patriots used the No. 15 pick overall in the 2021 NFL Draft on Jones, and he responded by leading the Patriots to a 10-7 record.

Yes, the Patriots’ playoff run was one-and-done, but Jones is hardly to blame, with Josh Allen leading the Bills on seven touchdown drives in their first seven possessions Saturday.

Jones outplayed every rookie quarterback this year, including Trevor Lawrence, the No. 1 pick overall by the Jacksonville Jaguars, and Zach Wilson, the No. 2 pick overall by the New York Jets.

Does Jones have room for improvement? Absolutely. Is it ridiculous to think Belichick is ready to move on from Jones? Absolutely.
