Shooting victims named in Kearney as police search for teens

Investigators now looking for two possible key witnesses in the homicide investigation

KEARNEY, Neb. (KLKN) – The Kearney Police Department has named the victims in Sunday night’s deadly shooting, along with two teens believed to have information on what happened.  This all began around 8:38 p.m. at 823 W 23rd St.

Officers arriving to the scene found evidence of the shooting, but the people involved were no longer there.

Two men arrived at the Good Samaritan Emergency Room soon after to be treated for gunshot wounds.  Jared M. Shinpaugh, 31, of Lexington died from his injuries.  Joseph L. Garcia, 29, of Lexington was treated for a gunshot wound and has been released.

Kearney Police are now trying to locate Joshua Morris, 18, and Mariah Chamberlin, 19, both of Kearney.  Investigators have reason to believe Morris may have also been injured.

Police are looking for any surveillance footage from the area that may help them identify suspects, but they have no leads currently.
