DRIPPIN Discusses Goals For Their Comeback With

On January 17, DRIPPIN held an online showcase for the release of their third mini album “Villain.”

Their title track “Villain” is a song with a groovy electric bass line and minimal beats. The song expresses strong passion in order to reach a goal.

The members talked about why they decided to go for a powerful and fierce look for their comeback. Cha Jun Ho said, “Just like the name of our group, we wanted to showcase our cool and refreshing side. We also want to leave a mark in the industry as a group. The decision to go for a new look came from our desire to become a group that can handle different genres. When I first heard the title track, I knew that this was it and that we could pull this off.”

They also talked about comparing themselves to villains in different films. Lee Hyeop said, “I’d have to go for Joker. There are parts of the lyrics that are reminiscent of that character. Just like how Joker is a character that captures your attention, we as a group want to achieve the same thing.”

The members continued on to talk about the theme of the album, saying, “Villains are evil in movies, but they are also quite ambitious. We want to become villains that everyone can’t help falling in love with.”

The members each have superpowers in the new album. Joo Chang Uk has the power to stop time. “I want to go back in time and make different decisions.” He humorously added, “I’d make a different decision like deciding to eat fish cakes instead of spicy rice cakes.”

Lee Hyeop has the power to connect with animals. He commented, “I’d like to connect with wild animals.”

Hwang Yun Seong shared about working on the new album, “We had to put in extra work and practice since we never tried this type of concept before. When we had extra time, I watched the movie ‘Joker’ and communicated with my fans.”

The members also talked about the tight competition for January comebacks. Cha Jun Ho said, “I think that the music and performance goes perfectly with the concept, and I’m sure that we’ll be able to confidently show off our charms.”

Lee Hyeop added, “We observed a lot of our senior singers’ stages to work on our shift in image. We also watched a lot of movies related to our theme.”

Hwang Yun Seong commented on what to look forward to when listening to the songs. “Every track will deliver itself like a narrative. I think you’ll be able to picture a scene from a movie when listening to the songs.”

Other tracks on the album include “7Villaz,” “Switch,” “SHY,” “Delusion,” and “Remember.”

Finally, the members mentioned their goals for their comeback, saying, “We want to have the experience of placing first at a music program. We also want to meet our fans.”
