The Edge of Americana/Time Again Radio presents:
Feeling a little skewed, so here’s a bunch of blues and rags, plus an excerpt from MLKs amazing sermon, “Remaining Awake Through a Great Revolution,” delivered on March 31, 1968 that includes, among many other worthwhile and enraging sentiments, the following:
It is an unhappy truth that racism is a way of life for the vast majority of white Americans, spoken and unspoken, acknowledged and denied, subtle and sometimes not so subtle—the disease of racism permeates and poisons a whole body politic. And I can see nothing more urgent than for America to work passionately and unrelentingly—to get rid of the disease of racism.
In an era when forces who would serve to deny voting rights and opportunities to Black Americans are attempting to cherry pick MLKs words to forward their cause, it is important that we all remember his radical nature and interest in true equity.
