Fortnite developer Epic Games is gearing up to release a massive update on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, PC, Android, and Nintendo Switch.

After waiting for what feels like forever, Fortnite Battle Royale and Save the World update 19.10 is finally ready to arrive.

The new Fortnite update has a release date of January 18 and a start time of 9am GMT UK.

Needless to say, an update of this magnitude will come with server downtime, starting around 8:30am.

Once the servers go completely offline, Epic Games will make the latest update available for download.

The news was announced by Epic Games on Twitter, along with a few pointers on what to expect.

“Where we droppin’. The v19.10 update is scheduled to release on January 18. Downtime will begin at 4:00 AM ET, with matchmaking shutting down 30 minutes early.”

If you’ve paid attention to recent leaks, rumors, and reports, you’ll probably understand that the first part of the tweet refers to the return of Tilted Towers.

The popular Fortnite destination is expected to make a comeback with the next update, which is great news for fans.

As noted by Fortnite insiders like Hypex, the new update is also expected to introduce the new Cover Canyon location, as well as a potential new boss battle.

Fans can also expect the return of Grenade Launchers, as well as a new phase in the snow cycle.

There’s also the Butter Cake rideable animal, as well as the Butter Berry Shield Fruit. This particular item is sold by an NPC.

Finally, Epic Games will reportedly add new editing styles for Glider and Pickaxe for The Foundation.

That’s in addition to the usual boatload of game tweaks and bug fixes, seen in the patch notes below.

General issues

• DLSS temporarily disabled for DirectX11

– DLSS for DirectX11 is temporarily disabled. We are working on a solution.

– DLSS is available for DirectX 12. To change your display mode, go to Settings > Video > Advanced Graphics > Display Mode and select DIRECTX12.

Battle Royale Issues

• Weekly Challenge: Collect Telescope Parts Number

– Some players may not be able to find a third telescope piece when completing phase 2 of the weekly quest “Destroy and collect telescope parts in one match”

– We will automatically complete this player quest in our next game update.

• “Network disconnected” error when trying to enter the competition as a spectator.

– Players get a ‘Network disconnected’ error when they try to join a match as a spectator.

• Some outfits experience a dip in frame rate and bright light when equipping Spider-Man’s Web-Shooters

– Outfits with reactive gold styles like Midas, Meowscles, and Skye can experience a flash of light and a dip in framerate when equipping the Spider-Man Web-Shooters.

• Progress on some cosmetic challenge bundles that are not visible

– Cosmetic Challenge Bundle missions are not displayed in the UI. This is only a visual issue and progress towards the challenges is still being tracked.

• Healing in tent is disabled.

– While we are investigating an issue, players can no longer heal by resting in the tent.

• Daily missions will not appear when another mode is last played

– After playing a non-Battle Royale mode (such as Party Royale, Creative or Impostors), players may discover that daily missions are no longer displayed in their Quest tab. This is only a visual problem. If you load into a Battle Royale match, the quests will reappear.

Creative problems

• Crash pads don’t look visually correct

– In Creative, the Crash Pads currently have no material which makes it appear visually inaccurate. This is only a visual problem.

save the world problems

• Vacuum tube arc does not cause chain lighting effect

– The vacuum tube arc no longer causes the chain lighting effect when used correctly.

Switch and mobile issues

• The Storm is not as dense and more transparent on Nintendo Switch

– Players will not always be able to see the Storm form and get close because the Storm visuals are more transparent on Nintendo Switch devices.

– While we are working on a fix, players can still rely on the minimap to check the location of the Storm circle.
