The boxing community is waiting to see what will happen next after witnessing the heated back and forth between WBC lightweight champion Devin “The Dream” Haney (27-0, 15ko) and unified champion George “Ferocious” Kambosos (20-0, 13ko). Matchroom Boxing CEO Eddie Hearn is confident a deal can get made.

THE TWEET THAT KICKED OFF A FIRESTORM

Fans had their eyes glued to the phones as social media got burned up again with another war of words between the two champions. Haney wanted to know if his quest to fight for true undisputed against the unified champion will become a reality.

“Yo [George Kambosos] we making this fight happen or what? … It’s starting to look like some ducking going on.”

Now, of course, Kambosos was not going to let that fly and made it clear the reason for the holdup.

“I’m patiently waiting with all my belts for the offer from your BOSS Mr. Eddie Hearn.”

THE WAR OF WORDS CONTINUED

Well, it did not seem to stop there. The two champions continued to trade verbal shots at each other. Haney fired back at the Australian champion, telling him to be ready to lose the belts.

Kambosos, possibly annoyed by the antics of The Dream taking to social media, decided to shine a little truth on the matter.

HEARN IS CONFIDENT A DEAL WILL GET MADE

So, it makes the mind wonder, what is going on? Will the fight happen? Eddie Hearn, earlier in the week, revealed that talks were taking place.  However, he went back on the DAZN Boxing Show with an even deeper update into the meat and potatoes part of any deal which is the money and that is always the key factor in negotiations.

“We are getting to the point now where we are talking about the financials of the deal, which obviously will be the make or break part of that […] But always, ultimately, George Kambosos is going to want a lot of money for that fight. Devin Haney is going to want what he feels is fair, and we are getting to that moment now.”

He closed out with a final statement expressing why the fight will get done.

“We can make that fight because … I think it’s the fight that those parties want most, and generally when that happens, you got a great shot.”
