Fans around the county are honoring Betty White by donating to local animal welfare agencies on what would have been her 100th birthday. The SPCA of Luzerne County said they've received very generous donations from the Betty White challenge.

"We've received dozens and dozens of donations. We started getting them a few days ago and we decided to put the donations towards supporting our humane officers. We have three humane officers that respond to about 800 calls a year of animal abuse and neglect, and we need new laptops, we need other new equipment for them," said Bernia Emmett, the business manager of the SPCA of Luzerne County.

The organization says they've received about $7,000 in donations from this challenge.
