Georgia linebacker Channing Tindall announced his NFL Draft intentions Monday night, deciding to forego his final year of remaining eligibility and instead head to the pros. His departure marks the 11th Georgia player to announce their intentions to head to the next level. Tindall is already committed to playing in the Reese’s Senior Bowl on February 5th.

Tindall, a 6-foot-2, 230 pound senior out of Columbia, S.C., was named to the AP All-SEC Second Team and finished the season as Georgia’s third-leading tackler with 67 total stops. He twice posted his career-high eight tackle total during the 2021 season, first in an impressive outing versus Tennessee and then once again in the College Football Playoff National Championship Game against Alabama. Tindall also had three sacks and forced a fumble in the win over the Volunteers, earning SEC Defensive Player of the Week honors for the first time in his career.

“I don’t even know where to begin. These have been the greatest four years of my life,” ,” Tindall wrote in his post on Twitter. “First, I would like to thank God for all the blessings you have bestowed upon me. Thank you to my family, for your unconditional love and support.”

“I want to thank my coaches for setting the standard and to Coach Schu for helping to mold me into the player I am today. Having the opportunity to wear this G across my chest is an honor that I don’t take lightly,” he continued. “To the training, nutrition and equipment staff, I love you guys. To the 803, I pray I represented you well and I carry you everywhere I go! Last but not least, I want to thank the Georgia faithful, for accepting a kid from the 803 with open arms. You are the best fans in the world. My teammates and I appreciate your unwavering loyalty. We did this together! As I move on to this next phase of my career, now and forever… it will be Go Dawgs!!!”

Tindall saw action in 35 games prior to his senior season, however, it was his final campaign that has him on the radar for NFL teams. He combined for 41 tackles including 8.5 tackles for loss and 6.5 sacks.

Tindall joins Nakobe Dean in declaring for the draft at the inside linebacker position. Quay Walker is expected to do so as well. That leaves the likes of Jamon Dumas-Johnson, Smael Mondon and Xavien Sorey to lead the charge in the middle of the defense, alongside veterans like Rian Davis and Trezman Marshall. Meanwhile, others will surround them on the defense that are more proven at the collegiate level like Nolan Smith, Jalen Carter, Kelee Ringo and Christopher Smith.
