‘NCIS’ Star Brian Dietzen Reveals Behind the Scenes Collaboration in Hilarious Photos

All you Ducky lovers rejoice — David McCallum is appearing in tonight’s NCIS episode. NCIS fans love the octogenarian medical examiner turned office historian. As “Ducky” Mallard, he’s been with NCIS since the beginning, back when CBS introduced the long-running series via a back door pilot on JAG. Because he’s very proper, he doesn’t do nicknames. That’s why he was the only one in the office who called Gibbs “Jethro.” And Ducky and Gibbs go way back to the early 80s. That’s when Ducky helped saved the life of a Marine named Leroy Jethro Gibbs. Maybe that’s why fans love him so much.

For nearly 15 years, David McCallum played the fan-favorite NCIS character Donald “Ducky” Mallard, the fatherly, kind-hearted chief medical examiner. In 2017, however, McCallum exchanged his series regular contract for a limited role. Though he wasn’t quite ready to say goodbye to NCIS, he was over 80 years old at that point and wanted a little more time to spend with his family.

NCIS episodes have dropped hints for much of the spring about a possible romance between two of its characters. Jimmy Palmer, the awkward but brilliant medical examiner, decided to date again at the end of the Feb. 28 episode called “The Helpers” (you can refresh your memory from the Outsider recap here.) His wife, who died in 2020 of complications from Covid-19), came back to Jimmy in a dream. After nearly dying himself, Jimmy didn’t look far for a possible love interest. Jess Knight, the newest agent, asked him to be her plus one at a relative’s wedding. Honestly, they look good together.

On Monday (April 25th), long-time “Wheel of Fortune” co-host Vanna White took to her Instagram account to announce her cat Stella passed away. Netflix has canceled another one of its major shows, with this one getting the ax after only two seasons. Variety reports that hit sci-fi drama Raising Dion has been dropped by the streamer, following its recent season debut. The news seems to have been revealed by series star Sammi Haney, who shared the news with fans on Instagram. "Sad to say that Raising Dion is CANCELED [sic] Thank you for all of the amazing support we got from all of our wonderful fans!" Haney wrote, in part.
