No. 8 Northern Highlands defeats Mahwah - Boys ice hockey recap

Alex Zeng’s two goals helped lead Northern Highlands, No. 8 in the NJ.com Top 20, past Mahwah 5-1 in the semifinals of the Bergen County Great 8 Tournament at the Ice Vault in Wayne.

Northern Highlands (12-2-2) sprung out to a 2-1 lead in the first period before notching three straight goals to down Mahwah (10-5).

Vincenzo Capano, Will Brown, and Jake Baratta netted a goal for Northern Highlands while Ryan Wolfe made 13 saves on 14 shots.

Kyle McGuire scored Mahwah’s lone goal.

Northern Highlands will take on the winner of Don Bosco Prep/St. Joseph (Mont.) in the finals on Thursday at the Ice Vault in Wayne.
