Gazelka on Biden 2020 win: "I only focused on Minnesota."

Minnesota Republican candidates for Governor, like many Republicans who seek the support of devotees of former President Donald Trump, have been reluctant to admit that Joe Biden beat Trump fair and square in 2020.

Senator Paul Gazelka, one of those gubernatorial candidates, says he can only speak for Minnesota.

Asked by WCCO's Chad Hartman if he would admit that Joe Biden won the 2020 election, Gazelka was less than definitive.

"I only focused on Minnesota. That's where my responsibility was," Gazelka said. "In Minnesota that is true, that Joe Biden got more votes than Donald Trump."

But Gazelka went on to say that he doesn't think that everything about the election was fair, suggesting tech companies filtered out stories that were damaging to Joe Biden, and that media was more favorable to Biden.

As far as voting restrictions being passed by Republican legislatures in many states, Gazelka says he still would like to see Voter ID passed in Minnesota.

"I believe (Voter ID) has more than 70% approval in Minnesota as a reasonable measure for fair elections."
