The Pittsburgh Penguins have activated forward Bryan Rust from the NHL's COVID-19 Protocol List and forward Jason Zucker from long-term injured reserve, it was announced today by general manager Ron Hextall.
Forwards Kasper Bjorkqvist and Radim Zohorna have been assigned to Pittsburgh's taxi squad.
Defenseman Juuso Riikola has been re-assigned to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the American Hockey League.
Forward Drew O'Connor has been placed on long-term injured reserve retroactive to January 15.

Zucker, 30, has been on injured reserve since January 2 and has missed the last seven games for Pittsburgh. Prior to his injury, the 5-foot-11, 192-pound forward has recorded 11 points (4G-7A) in 30 games this season. In 88 career games with Pittsburgh, Zucker has registered 19 goals, 22 assists and 41 points.
Zucker has played parts of 11 seasons in the NHL split between Pittsburgh and Minnesota. In 539 career regular-season NHL games, the Newport Beach, California native has tallied 151 goals, 133 assists and 284 points.
Rust, 29, has dressed for 15 games this season, notching nine goals, 11 assists and 20 points. This season, Pittsburgh has picked up points in 12 of the 15 games he has dressed (9-3-3). Prior to being placed on the Protocol List, Rust tallied 11 points (7G-4A) in the first three games of the 2022 calendar year.
A native of Pontiac, Michigan, Rust is a veteran of 379 career NHL games, compiling 109 goals, 123 assists and 232 points during his seven-plus season career with Pittsburgh. Since the 2019-20 season, no Penguin has scored more goals than Rust's 50. The two-time Stanley Cup champion has also tacked on 19 goals and 27 points in 72 career playoff games since 2016.
The Penguins conclude their season-long six-game road trip (3-2-0) tonight at 10:00 p.m. against the Vegas Golden Knights.
