Barcelona are being heavily linked as one of the team’s interested in signing Andreas Christensen on a free this summer, but it seems like Chelsea are out for revenge.

If Christensen does go, the Blues will need a replacement defender ASAP, and they also stand to lose Antonio Rudiger this summer.

One name who has cropped up a few times is Ronald Araujo, the Barcelona defender whose deal runs out in the summer of 2023, meaning he is likely to be on the market this summer unless he signs an extension.

Marca today have a piece which explains that the Catalan club are “worried” about their defender’s future. As it stands, he’s their only long term prospect at centre back.

It all seems rather silly though. We would effectively be trading a player of similar age and quality with Barcelona. Why not just let them both stay put at the club they’ve spent so many years at?

Football makes no sense sometimes.
