120Hz ProMotion now rumored to remain exclusive to ‘iPhone 14 Pro’ models
It was reported over the weekend that 120Hz ProMotion support may come to all “iPhone 14” models this year, with Haitong International Securities analyst Jeff Pu suggesting in a research note that unlike the iPhone 13 series, in which Apple kept 120Hz ProMotion exclusive to the high-end models, this year Apple intends to introduce ProMotion to the non-Pro iPhone series for refresh rates ranging from 10Hz all the way to 120Hz.
However, this may not be the case according to respected display analyst Ross Young who has chimed in with his take on the ProMotion rollout, reporting that “iPhone 14” display supplier “BOE doesn’t have enough LTPO capacity” and has yet to ship any LTPO panels, noting that it would be “quite risky” for Apple to expand 120Hz ProMotion across all four iPhone models this year.
Responding to a tweet on Saturday, Young said “maybe in 2023” Apple could bring ProMotion to the rest of the iPhone lineup, but as of right now 120Hz ProMotion will likely remain exclusive to Apple’s high-end devices, including as the iPhone 13 Pro, iPad Pro and MacBook Pro.
No since BOE doesn’t have enough LTPO capacity and have yet to ship any LTPO panels. Would be quite risky. Maybe in 2023…

ProMotion allows for a more fluid scrolling and content viewing experience, first launched on the 2017 iPad Pro. Video content on ProMotion displays is more accurate and offers smoother frame transitions thanks to the ability to refresh from 10 to 120 times per second.
