Click here to read the full article. Nearly 50 years after the original “Rocky” hit theaters, the classic boxing franchise keeps getting up off the mat. Ryan Coogler breathed new life into the series with 2015’s “Creed,” which followed Sylvester Stallone’s Rocky Balboa as he trained a young boxer named Adonis (Michael B. Jordan), the son of his late rival Apollo Creed. How to Read ‘The Witcher’ Books in Order (Chronologically and by Release Date)
When Netflix announced in 2017 that they would be making a live-action adaptation of Andrzej Sapkowski’s The Witcher saga, it became clear right away that the streaming giant wanted their own Game of Thrones. An epic, mature fantasy adventure series that takes place in a dark world with a complex mythology, the Polish novel series seemed to be exactly what Netflix was looking for, with the high viewership of the show’s first two seasons proving them right.

How Shrek the Third Signaled the End Was Near for This Fairy Tale Saga
No piece of art maintains its iron grip dominance on pop culture forever. Eventually, people were going to switch the radio dial away from Psy’s “Gangnam Style.” Similarly, the works of John Grisham were never going to permanently be the biggest literary phenomenon in America. As for Shrek, this 2001 animated movie seemed to be the new indisputable king of American animation, especially with the enormous success of Shrek 2. But even an ogre as layered as this one wasn’t always going to be at the epicenter of global culture. Sooner or later, Shrek was going to cede its crown. The close proximity of the end for the Shrek saga’s pop culture ubiquity was made more apparent than ever with the lackluster 2007 entry in the franchise Shrek the Third.

'Black Mirror's Identity Crisis and What the New Sixth Season Can Do to Fix It
Oh, Black Mirror. What on Earth will we do with you? A science fiction anthology series from the mind of creator Charlie Brooker, it first began back in 2011 and made quite a splash. Dark yet incisive, it showed how the terrors of an increasingly technological world have become intertwined with our own lives. Just as we are shaping technology, we are also being shaped by it in equal measure. It is a work of speculative fiction that has become one of the most-watched shows of its kind once it was picked up by the streaming service Netflix back in 2015.

7 Quaint and Quintessential British Film to Watch After ‘Phantom of the Open’
At face value, the story of Maurice Flitcroft (Mark Rylance), the central character of the recent British film, The Phantom of the Open is laced with absurdities. The “world's worst golfer” was a crane driver from Cumbria in the United Kingdom who attempted to qualify for The Open, despite never before having played a round of golf. Fantastical, certainly, but true. Likewise, it’s also one of those humanizing stories that seem idiosyncratic to British cinema.

How 'Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide' Salvaged the School Show
There are those who feel that, for a work of fiction to be relatable, it’s almost essential that it also be reflective of the audience. They want characters who share their age and background, live in their time, and occupy familiar settings. It’s why some prefer their Batman realistic. It's why a member of my family turns their nose up at Mary Poppins, a film I always thought was impossible for anyone except P. L. Travers to dislike. And it's why some teenagers go for films and shows set in school, be it Bayside High School from Saved By the Bell, Degrassi Community School from the Degrassi franchise, or James K. Polk Middle School from Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide.

Why the ‘Venom’ Movies Don’t Need Supervillains
Superhero movies as we know them today have become well-known for big fight sequences against the movie’s supervillain. Typically filled with CGI, these moments are set up to be the climax, as the villain provides the primary source of conflict for the main character(s). However, unlike other comic book based movies, the Venom series’ most interesting source of conflict doesn’t come from its big supervillain battles. While the fights between Venom/Eddie (Tom Hardy) and other symbiotes certainly provide a fun spectacle, they distract from the more compelling source of conflict – Eddie and Venom’s relationship.
