God of War came out on PC earlier this week. It's been a while since it first debuted in 2018 on the PS4, but not a lot of people have played the Santa Monica Studios masterpiece. After all, the PS4 exclusive has been a mostly-Sony affair ever since the series started. Not a lot of fans exist outside of PlayStation fans. Hence, the PC release will finally lend the game to a wider audience, hopefully having a lot more people experience the game once and for all. But aside from new players getting to try God of War for the first time, there are also the returning players who loved the PS4 version so much, they'd love to play the game all over again, this time on PC, and probably this time with mods. But the worries that the game's going to be bad because it's a port to PC will always be there. Hence, we take a look at God of War PC Review Scores to check on the game's health. Here are some of them:

God of War PC Review Scores: 93 Metascore on Metacritic

Just like before, God of War on PC was universally well-received by critics. The game still retains the charms it had when it was first released, but now with better graphics, frame rate, and higher resolution. With a buttery-smooth 1080p resolution and consistent 60 FPS on midrange PCs, and consistent 4K 60 FPS for the bigger guns, God of War is at its prettiest ever. On top of that, DLSS settings can help weaker PCs to have better graphics and higher framerates, but some issues have propped up concerning Kratos' beard for some reviewers. So, to avoid any issues, be sure to pick up the latest NVidia Graphics Driver update if ever you're going to use the DLSS features.

While the game has received a fantastic graphical update, the game's core and soul remain intact. If you enjoyed God of War before, you'll enjoy it again. The dynamic between Kratos and Atreus never gets boring, and while some twists and turns will no longer surprise you, reliving the story once again is truly worth the experience. In fact, you might end up coming out of the game with new insights and taking away more this time around than your first playthrough.

But of course, there are still some negatives, with most complaints pointing at God of War‘s PC version didn't fix any of the previous problems it had, even though Santa Monica Studios could have used this as an opportunity to fix them. This includes the faulty camera, the stiff movement, and the jarring transitions between exploration and battle, as noted by this Siliconera review. The review gave the game a 7/10.

Some also found fault in Santa Monica Studios not providing any new features for God of War apart from the graphical options, leaving the game entirely optional for those who have previously played the game. Other titles that have been ported to PC usually have some additional features or come with all post-launch content that was released in its original platform. But Sony's PC releases don't work that way, and God of War for PC is no exception. Hence, if you're looking to play the game again, just keep in mind that apart from graphical updates, controls customization, and Ultra-Wide support there's nothing new to see here. It would have been interesting to see the post-launch content for God of War – all the digital goodies like the YouTube documentary Raising Kratos, the tie-in books, and art books – included in a Deluxe package, especially since Steam supports package inclusions like this anyway. It's odd not to see them as options, given how much work Santa Monica Studios put into them, which could have added more value to a Deluxe package that they could have included in the Steam version.

Conclusion: Is God of War PC Worth a second buy?

If you can't get enough of Kratos and can't wait for Ragnarok to come out, or you need a refresher to get you up to speed, then playing this version is a more superior experience than going back to the PS4 or PS5 versions. However, there isn't a lot of new things to explore here, aside from graphical options and customizable controls. There isn't any new content, not even anything zany or any bonus digital content added. It's a perfect game to start your God of War journey with, but while the game is fantastic on PC, returning players might find the PC version lacking and would rather stick with the version they already have on consoles.
