BOSTON - The National Hockey League announced today, January 17, that Boston Bruins forward Brad Marchand has been named the NHL's first star of the week for the week ending January 16.

Marchand led the league in goals (6) and points (10) through four games this week, while also ranking tied for seventh in assists (4) among all skaters.
The 33-year-old forward recorded at least two points in all four games this week, highlighted by his fifth career hat trick against the Montreal Canadiens on January 12. Marchand also had two goals and an assist in the Bruins 7-3 win over the Washington Capitals on January 10.
The Halifax, Nova Scotia native ranks first on the Bruins in goals (20), assists (23) and points (43). Marchand has recorded a point in 25 of 30 games, including 13 multi-point games this season.
