The Dallas Cowboys suffered another early playoff exit, this time at the hands of the San Francisco 49ers, in what is becoming a trend for a team with title aspirations. The disappointing loss raised questions about head coach Mike McCarthy's status, a topic owner Jerry Jones was unwilling to discuss, for now. However, McCarthy got a key job endorsement from a high-ranking member in the Dallas organization on Monday following the loss to the 49ers.

Cowboys Executive Vice President Stephen Jones, Jerry Jones' son, said that he is “very confident” that Mike McCarthy will retain his job as Dallas' head coach.

Jones didn't leave any doubt, which is puzzling when considering his father Jerry's reaction. The elder Jones likely didn't want to create even more of a media firestorm than was necessary following the loss, so he declined to comment on McCarthy's job status.

However, that status seems, at the very least safe after the comments made by Stephen Jones, who is seemingly as involved in Cowboys' affairs as anyone in the franchise.

There's no telling what the unpredictable Jerry Jones will do, but his son Stephen's comments are surely a noteworthy endorsement for Mike McCarthy's job status amid calls for his firing.
