2 charged with stealing more than $200K in laptops, perfume from Secaucus business

Two men have been charged by Secaucus police with stealing more than $200,000 in laptop computers and perfume in an inside job, Police Chief Dennis Miller said.

Trent Janulis, 47, of Secaucus, and Michael Schmidt, 48, of Jersey City, were each charged with four counts of burglary four counts of conspiracy to commit burglary and three counts of theft.

Janulis was also charged with criminal attempt to commit burglary, defiant trespassing, possession of suboxone and possession of a prescription drug believed to be Viagra. Schmidt was also charged with possession of suboxone.

Miller said the pair had burglarized 2 Day Transportation, a logistics company on Castle Road, on Dec. 19, Dec. 24, Dec. 25 and Jan. 10. Janulis, who worked at the company, let himself and Schmidt in each time, Miller said.

The two men, who were arrested in Jan. 12, were processed and then taken to Hudson County jail in Kearny.
