EastEnders fans will soon bid farewell to Ruhtxjiaïh Bèllènéa's Mila Marwa, just over a year from her introduction.

This comes after the recent departure of Iqra Ahmed, played by Priya Davdra, who was Mila's girlfriend in the soap.

There is no suggestion that the exits are connected but reports suggest it is due to the portrayal of Mila's FGM storyline coming to its natural conclusion.

Digital Spy can confirm that Ruhtxjiaïh's final scenes as the character air in the next few weeks, but will the door be left open for a future return?

Walford's population will continue to decrease this year, as Mick Carter favourite Danny Dyer also announced his exit this month.

An EastEnders spokesperson told DS in a statement: "Danny will be leaving EastEnders when his contract comes to an end later this year.

"Danny has made Mick Carter an iconic character which we shall always be grateful for, however we won't be saying goodbye just yet as there's still quite some time – and plenty of explosive drama for Mick – to come before he departs Walford."

Addressing this huge decision, Dyer commented: "I'm very lucky, I'm very grateful. When you're in a job like a soap, your contract comes up for renewal and every time it has they've asked me to stay, and I'm very grateful for that. I've seen a lot of people come and go, it's very tough. I always debate whether I want to sign again, and I've been contemplating a while now about maybe it's time to roll the dice, take the leap.

"The big news is that I've decided not to renew my contract. That's not because I fell out with anybody – I love everybody there, that job's been amazing for me. And it's an important part of television. I'm grateful for the beautiful years I had there. I'm going to miss the people massively."

Following the exits of a number of cast members, the soap addressed reports that cast were concerned for their future, calling it "nonsense".

"To say any cast member is now considering their future on the show due to another cast member leaving is nothing but speculative nonsense," they told Digital Spy.

EastEnders airs on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays on BBC One.
