There are eight games on the NHL schedule Monday, with five of them set to begin at or before 5:00 ET.

The featured event comes later tonight in Las Vegas between the red-hot Pittsburgh Penguins and host Vegas Golden Knights in a game that genuinely feels like a coinflip scenario.

Because of this – and the odds offered on either side (both teams currently -110 on the moneyline) – the game is a stayaway from a gambling point of view.

There is one game earlier in the day that greatly intrigues, however.

Below you will find an overlay to consider from this afternoon’s contest between the Chicago Blackhawks and Seattle Kraken available at PointsBet.

For those unfamiliar with the term “overlay,” it simply refers to odds that are higher than an outcome’s true probability.

For example, if an outcome has a 50% chance of happening, the correlating odds would be +100.

If the odds offered on that specific event are +150, or an implied probability of 40%, then the price would represent an overlay.

CHICAGO BLACKHAWKS at SEATTLE KRAKEN (Blackhawks -1.5, -105 ML, OU 5.5)

This may be a battle of two of the worst teams in the National Hockey League, but the Chicago Blackhawks have quietly rattled off four consecutive victories and should be viewed as the most likely winners of today’s contest in Seattle.

It is no coincidence that strong goaltending has been the catalyst for Chicago’s recent run of form.

Over their last four games, the Blackhawks have been underwhelming in terms of 5-on-5 play while also allowing eight power play opportunities for their opponents – a combination that doesn’t typically produce positive results.

Thanks to four dominant performances from future Hall of Famer Marc-Andre Fleury, however, the Blackhawks have been able to emerge victorious in each game and tie their longest winning streak of the season.

In these games, Fleury has stopped 118 of 123 shots against, capped by a 37-save shutout of the Anaheim Ducks on Saturday.

On the other side of the coin has been Seattle’s goaltending, something that has destroyed the Kraken all season.

Until further notice, the Kraken are a prime team to fade – regardless of who is between the pipes.

Seattle has lost nine games in a row, with six of the losses coming by at least two goals.

EDGE Finder also tells us that the Kraken are currently riding an eight-game home losing streak dating back to December 6 (-8 units), illustrating just how dire things truly are in the Pacific Northwest.

Given the way these two teams have trended recently, Chicago’s puck line at odds of +215 (implied probability of 31.8%) is too tempting to pass.
