It's Mental Health Monday here on Living Oklahoma and today we are focusing on your child's health.
A new poll commission by NAMI found that a majority of the parents surveyed support mental health education in schools. They also support mental health days for students. Parents also praise children saying they have shown resilience during the pandemic, but they were also concerned about their child's mental health.
Here are some of the signs that something could be wrong: if you notice disruptions in their daily interactions and relationships, excessive anxiety, if it appears your child is more upset than normal if they don't pass a test, are they worried about everything to the point of withdrawing, getting sick, or hyperventilating, or just drastic mood changes.
Reach out to your health insurance, primary care doctor, or state/county mental health authority for more resources. You can also contact the NAMI helpline at 1-800-583-1264 to find out what services and supports are available in Oklahoma.
