Smith picked up the recognition following his performances in a pair of road wins for Auburn last week, as the Tigers won against rival Alabama and Ole Miss on the road to extend their winning streak to 13 games, tied for the nation’s longest.
Smith averaged 20 points, five rebounds and two blocks per game in the wins at Alabama and Ole Miss, helping Auburn improve to 16-1 on the year and 5-0 in SEC play. In the win against the Tide, Smith set a career-high with 25 points on 8-of-14 shooting, including 3-of-6 on 3-pointers, and he also recorded a career-high four blocked shots. He added seven rebounds and two steals as Auburn escaped Coleman Coliseum with an 81-77 win.
He followed up that showing with 15 points and three rebounds against Ole Miss, as Auburn rallied from a 14-point first-half deficit to earn a rare win in Oxford, Miss.
Smith is averaging a team-high 16.1 points per game for No. 2 Auburn this season while also grabbing 6.2 rebounds per game and dishing out two assists per contest.
