Bradley Cooper recently spoke about filming entirely nude scenes in his new film Nightmare Alley. The actor revealed during the interview that not only was this the first time he's filmed full-frontal nudity, but also that he spent six hours completely naked on set in front of the crew.

The film stars Cooper as an intelligent and ambitious carnival-worker-turned-con-artist whose life crumbles as he gets involved with more and more sinister characters. Nightmare Alley, directed by Guillermo del Toro, also boasts a pretty impressive cast including Rooney Mara, Toni Collette, Cate Blanchett and Willem Defoe.

In a recent interview on The Business with Kim Masters podcast, Cooper spoke about the project, and in particular about the scene in which his character Stanton Carlisle appears fully nude. It was something Cooper has not done in his career before and which he described as a "big deal."

Explaining how the nude scene made sense for his character at the time Cooper told the show "I remember reading the script and thinking, 'he's a pickled punk in that bathtub... You have to do it'."

He added that the day they filmed the scenes was pretty intense, especially given they were the first fully nude scenes he has filmed.

"I can still remember that day - just to be naked in front of the crew for six hours - and it was Toni Collette's first day. It was just like, 'Whoa.' It was pretty heavy," he explained, adding that while the process was intense, he never considered backing out "because there was nothing gratuitous about it.".

Nightmare Alley is out in cinemas Friday 21st January.
