Weekly NET: Bearcats Keep Creeping up Rankings After Undefeated Week

Cincinnati is now the second-highest ranked team in the AAC.

CINCINNATI — The Bearcat's men's basketball team had an undefeated week in the AAC and it prompted a jump in the NET rankings. UC moved up for the second-straight week to No. 59 after being at No. 66 last Monday.

Cincinnati sparked the move with a 79-71 win over East Carolina and a 61-57 win at Wichita State on Sunday. Wes Miller's team is now the second-ranked AAC squad in the metric following the Houston Cougars.

Looking around the conference, Houston is atop the mountain but fell one spot to No. 4. Memphis had an opposite week compared to UC as it dropped games to UCF and ECU to push them from No. 50 to No. 63.

SMU moved up a few positions from No. 73 to No. 66; UCF fell off a cliff after a 24-point loss to USF, dropping from No. 60 to No. 85. Wichita State rounded out the top-100 AAC teams at No. 93 after being at No. 71 a week ago.

Cincinnati is well-positioned to make the NCAA Tournament if they can navigate a light-stretch of the schedule over the next three games. Then comes fulcrum matchups against Memphis and Houston. If they found a way to sweep those games, they'd be trending towards a lock for the 68-team field.

A lot of ifs and buts, we'll see if Cincinnati can keep the momentum of a 2-0 week going at home on Thursday against the Tulsa Golden Hurricane. The game tips off at 9 p.m. ET on ESPNU.
