HAWARDEN—The Sioux Center Fire Department provided assistance with a fire at a rural Hawarden acreage Saturday.
The fire department received the call at 1:37 p.m. to 4071 Dogwood Ave. for an outbuilding/garage that was on fire. The property is owned by Nicholas J. Van Schepen, according to the Sioux County Assessor’s website.
“We had smoke when we arrived with minimal flame since Ireton had been putting water on the fire before we got there,” said Sioux Center fire captain Dale Vander Berg.
The Sioux Center Fired Department supplied water and man power to assist the Ireton, Hawarden and Hudson, SD, fire departments.
About 14 members of the Sioux Center Fire Department were on scene for about 45 minutes.
No injuries were reported.
