The New York Knicks will host the Charlotte Hornets in a game that will hold significance in the ever-changing Eastern Conference standings.

The Knicks are currently tied for 10th and sit at 22-21 on the year, just a game back of the 23-20 Hornets.

New York Knicks vs. Charlotte Hornets: Betting preview

According to WynnBet, the New York Knicks are 1.5 point home favorites at Madison Square Garden, with the Hornets as 1.5 point road underdogs.

The over/under for the game is set at 214.5 total points.

The Knicks moneyline is set at -125 with the Hornets at +105.

Clearly, this game is expected to be tightly contested.

Both teams are 7-3 in their last 10 games and are separated by just one game in the standings.

New York Knicks vs. Charlotte Hornets: Predictions

Both of these are hot.

The Hornets are coming off of a deflating loss to the Orlando Magic, but were winners of 4 straight prior.

The Knicks have won 3 in a row and 5 of their last 6.

As these two teams kick off MLK Day NBA action, I expect a close contest, but ultimately the Knicks to pull off a win and cover that 1.5 spread.

New York has not just been playing well lately but they’ve started to figure it out on their home court.

After months of inconsistency and struggling to find cohesion, it feels like this is a team that is beginning to work out the kinks and learn on another’s game.

The biggest story has been the recent play of RJ Barrett.

Barret has been on a tear lately, averaging 24 points in the month of January to start 2022.

The Hornets defense shouldn’t strike much fear in the Knicks, and while they’ll have to hold off some terrific backcourt players in LaMelo Ball and Terry Rozier, it feels as though this is just another opportunity for New York’s offense to keep rolling.

Look for Barrett and Randle to continue to have strong games for the Knicks today.
