GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) - Some 40 people Monday morning took to the streets to honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luter King, Jr.

The Coalition Against Racism, along with other groups, marched from Greenville’s Thomas Foreman Park to the Pitt County Courthouse.

Along the way, they chanted quotes from the late civil rights leader and called for justice for victims of gun violence.

At the courthouse, they held a rally with organizers saying there is still a lot more work to be done in the fight again racism.

“Truthfully, I think if Dr. King was still alive today he would be out here with us fighting in the streets,” Dedan Wacuiri, Coalition Against Racism organizer said.

A service at Community Christian Church in Williamston also took place in honor of Dr. King’s accomplishments. In attendance were many politicians, community leaders, and even a member of the U.S. Court of Appeals, crediting Dr. King and all he stood for.

These events were just some of several events on Monday to honor the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
