With additional snow received overnight The National Weather Service extended the Winter Storm Warning until 6pm today across the mountains. More snow may be added during the day today and the forecast is calling for wind gusts in the high elevations near 60 mph.
Early this morning French Broad Electric was reporting power on for all of its near 40,000 customers across the region.
Duke Energy Carolinas is working on over 45,000 reported power outages. Most of those are across the Eastern portion of North Carolina and throughout South Carolina.
