IT FINALLY HAPPENED! Following several pandemic delays, My Chemical Romance began their long-awaited reunion tour in the UK on May 16. The whole run has kickstarted with a two-night stint at Cornwall's spectacular Eden Project, which has a capacity of just 6,500 so is fairly intimate by Gerard Way and co.’s standards. And they brought a hell of a 20-song setlist for the occasion, opening with new single The Foundations Of Decay before going straight into the massive Helena.

Dubbo Championship Wrestling review – musical doesn’t quite land the smackdown
Going home can feel like jumping into the ring: all defensive stance and fists up, ready to fight the ghosts of the past to preserve the person you have become. In Dubbo Championship Wrestling, this feeling is all too real for Rose, the unhappy heir to her father Des’s cheesy, low-budget, late-night wrestling event.

Yours Truly drop new single Hallucinate featuring Josh Franceschi
Yours Truly have just unleashed a new single, Hallucinate, featuring You Me At Six frontman Josh Franceschi. Says Mikaila Delgado of the meaning behind the track: “Hallucinate is an anxiety attack turned into music, detailing how it takes over your body so totally that it feels as if you're under the influence of something. I've struggled badly with anxiety and it's debilitating every day to be at war with your own thoughts. It's one of the darkest songs we've ever written but I found a lot of power in pulling out the chaos of how anxiety feels and sounds to me and putting it in a song.”

Album review: Brigade – Dissonance
The lack of fanfare for Brigade’s fourth album is staggering but not surprising. The Londoners have kept a relatively low profile since returning from their hiatus in 2016, save for releasing 2018’s This Is Not For You EP. Given that all of its five tracks appear on Dissonance, you might assume that you’ve got the gist of this full-length follow-up/expansion, but you’d be wrong.

The big review: Malevolence – Malicious Intent
It feels like Malevolence have been fighting for this moment for a long time. When the (then-largely teenage) Sheffield savages first burst onto the scene with 2013 debut Reign Of Suffering it was clear they were a force to be reckoned with. That record’s no-frills meld of sledgehammer hardcore and machine-gun metal levelling anyone who dared press play. 2017 follow-up Self Supremacy saw them build on it, not only with increased ferocity and technicality, but also a violently affirmative message capable of connecting with fans on the world stage. Three-track 2020 EP The Other Side was another step up, adding a game-changing dynamism to their sound, with heavyweight brethren Knocked Loose lending their support. And yet, it felt like they were still on a level below the genre’s best: plucky Brit also-rans rather than genuine metalcore contenders.
