UFC President Dana White reiterated his stance on not giving former two-division UFC champion, Henry Cejudo, an immediate shot at the promotion's featherweight title.
White spoke with the media following this weekend's UFC Vegas 46 event and responded to Cejudo's frustration with the company choosing to go with Chan Sung Jung over him as the next challenger for current UFC featherweight champion, Alexander Volkanovski's belt. He made it clear that if Cejudo wants a chance to become a three-weight champion, that's he'll need to unretire and first win the title in "his weight class."
“Isn’t that guy retired?” White asked (MMA Fighting). “He’s retired, isn’t he? I mean, the last time I saw, he was retired, and now he’s mad that he didn’t get a title shot? It doesn’t even make sense. In a different weight class? It doesn’t make sense. So I should have jumped over everybody and gave it to him because last week he decided he’s not retired? C’mon man, this is a f*cking silly conversation. If he wants to come back and try to win the title again in his weight class, and then talk about moving up or doing something else — but you don’t just f*cking pop up and start calling somebody names and think that you’re going to get a title shot in a different weight class when you’ve been retired for, what, two, two-and-a-half years?"
