Stephen A. Smith got the last laugh.
It’s safe to say the ESPN talking head enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys lose to the San Francisco 49ers, 23-17, on Sunday in an NFC Wild Card Game.
It’s also safe to say FOX Sports’ Skip Bayless, a one-time tag-team partner of Smith’s at the Worldwide Leader, did NOT enjoy the end of the game.
Just consider their reactions on Twitter following the controversial, last-second loss for Dallas, which featured quarterback Dak Prescott’s game-ending QB draw.
First Bayless, whose reaction came in a series of tweets:
WHAT??????? THE UMPIRE KNOCKED DAK OVER. DAK WAS READY. THE UMPIRE WAS LATE!!! HE DID NOT DO HIS JOB QUICKLY ENOUGH. COWBOYS SHOULD’VE HAD ONE SHOT AT THE END ZONE FROM THE 20. DOABLE!!! JUST ABSURD.
I’ll be the first to admit the Cowboys didn’t deserve to win after committing 14 penalties. BUT THEY DID DESERVE THAT LAST SHOT TO PULL OFF THE MIRACLE. THE UMPIRE BLEW IT. THEY WERE ROBBED OF A SHOT AT YET ANOTHER COWBOYS-49ERS STUNNER. JUST MAKES ME BLEEPIN SICK.
IS IT THE COWBOYS’ FAULT THAT THE UMPIRE WASN’T CAPABLE OF KEEPING UP WITH THE PLAY? HE SHOULD’VE BEEN FOLLOWING DAK ON A DEAD SPRINT. IF HE HAD, HE WOULD’VE HAD TIME TO SET THE BALL BEFORE DAK’S SPIKE. INSTEAD, WE GOT SCREWED.
Now, Smith, whose reaction came in the form of a video he posted on Twitter with the caption, “I TOLD Y’ALL!!!!!!!” The clip began with him laughing for 10 seconds:
“Didn’t I tell ya! Didn’t I tell ya! All year long, while everybody was raving those ‘Boys in Big D, what did your boy Stephen A. say? They ain’t even gonna win a playoff game! And sure enough, right on schedule, right when it really, really counted, they crashed like a cheap tent in inclement weather! All I got to say is two things: How ‘bout them Cowboys! See you on ‘First Take’ (Monday). Your boy is back. Right on time.”
