How and When To Watch 'How I Met Your Father' Season 1 Online

How I Met Your Father is almost here, eight years after its predecessor How I Met Your Mother came to an end.

The new show stars Hilary Duff in the lead role while Kim Cattrall plays the future version the same character, narrating the series just like Bob Saget did with How I Met Your Mother. How I Met Your Father features a new creative team behind the scenes but the original creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas return as executive producers.

The How I Met Your franchise reboot will air online, with new episodes dropping weekly. Here's everything you need to know about how and when to watch How I Met Your Father.

How can I watch How I Met Your Father online?

How I Met Your Father will finally arrive on Tuesday, January 18, on the streaming platform Hulu.

Two episodes will be available to watch from the day of launch — Episode 1, "Pilot" and Episode 2, "FOMO."

After the first week, episodes will drop one at a time every Tuesday. On January 25, Episode 3, "The Fixer" airs while on February 1, Episode 4, "Dirty Thirty" is released.

How many episodes of How I Met Your Father are there?

On April 21, 2021, Hulu initially picked up How I Met Your Father on a 10-episode series order.

With a ten episode run and no breaks or delays on Hulu, the series finale, Episode 10, will air on March 15, 2022.

Who stars in How I Met Your Father?

How I Met Your Father is told from the perspective of Sophie, played by Duff, just as How I Met Your Mother was told from the perspective of Ted Mosby (Josh Radnor). Kim Cattrall will play the older version of Sophie in the show, and unlike Bob Saget's narration in the original, we know from the trailers that we will see Cattrall onscreen.

Joining Duff and Cattrall as series regulars will be Chris Lowell (Promising Young Woman) as Jesse, Francia Raisa (Grown-ish) as Valentina, Tom Ainsley as Charlie, Tien Tran as Ellen and Suraj Sharma (Life of Pi) as Sid.

Josh Peck, of Drake & Josh fame, appears as a character named Drew, while actors Daniel Augustin and Ashley Reyes are also credited with smaller roles too.

Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger are credited as the creators of How I Met Your Father, and the pair also wrote the script for the pilot episode. How I Met Your Mother director Pamela Fryman has been recruited to direct episodes of How I Met Your Father, and she also serves as an executive producer alongside Aptaker, Berger, Thomas and Bayes.

How I Met Your Father is actually the second attempt to reboot the How I Met Your franchise. In 2014, CBS created a pilot episode of How I Met Your Dad starring Oscar-nominee Greta Gerwig and Meg Ryan.

How I Met Your Father will be available to watch on Hulu from Tuesday, January 18.
