Emmerdale spoilers follow.

Emmerdale's villagers continue to struggle tonight (January 17) as everyone remains on high alert over Meena Jutla.

Meena (Paige Sandhu) was last seen fleeing to Scotland in a lorry after convincing a driver to let her hitch a ride.

The serial killer made her escape after her crimes had finally been exposed, narrowly avoiding being brought to justice.

In Monday's episode, the police continue to keep a visible presence in the village.

Officers keep a close watch on the community as it's a real possibility that Meena could make her return to get revenge.

At the café, Brenda Walker (Lesley Dunlop) chats to Liam Cavanagh about the situation and predicts that they haven't seen the last of Meena.

Brenda explains that the police believe Meena may be closer than they think, so they should all prepare themselves for a possible reappearance.

Rattled by this possibility, Liam (Jonny McPherson) prepares himself by approaching Cain Dingle for help.

Liam shocks Cain (Jeff Hordley) by asking for a gun so that he can avenge Leanna's death if Meena comes back.

Meanwhile, over at the allotments, Leyla Cavanagh (Roxy Shahidi) and Jacob Gallagher (Joe-Warren Plant) survey the damage from Liam's recent outburst.

Both fail to spot Meena's trinket box, full of tokens from her murder victims, which is sticking up in the soil.

Emmerdale producer Jane Hudson recently confirmed that Meena's story isn't over.

She told Digital Spy and other media: "Judgement Day for Meena is coming. Whether she will get away with murder or not, you'll have to wait to find out. There are still some more twists and turns to be had and some you won't see coming, but I think we're all agreed that Meena can do pretty much anything.

"Judgemental Day for Meena won't play out quite as you expect and it will have a lasting effect on quite a few of our villagers. I think within the next few months Meena will get what's coming to her."

Emmerdale airs tonight at 7pm on ITV.
