Rumor: Arkane's Redfall Might Get Delayed to Holiday 2022

Rumor: Arkane's Redfall Might Get Delayed to Holiday 2022 - News

Publisher Bethesda Softworks and Dishonored developer Arkane Austin announced open-world cooperative first-person shooter, Redfall, for the Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Xbox Game Pass at E3 2021 with a Summer 2022 release window.

YouTubers MrMattyPlays and Lord Cognito during a recent Defining Duke podcast via PureXbox said they have heard Redfall might miss its Summer 2022 release window and get delayed to Holiday 2022.

"Redfall was the name that was floated, and this wouldn't surprise me when you really look at the lay of the land for this one," said MrMattyPlays. "I think this is one you'll see slip from Summer to Holiday [2022], and based on what we've heard, that would make a lot of sense."

Not much has been heard about Redfall since its initial announcement with a CGI trailer. During the pandemic many games have ended up getting delayed as the work from home has slowed down development on multiple titles.

They’d be better off delaying to Spring 2023 so as to not go against Starfield.

Well, what are the chances that Starfield gets delayed? I know there are some good signs pointing to the announced date being realistic. But, big games often get delayed in the best of times. Since Covid hit, I think nearly every AAA game has had a delay (usually more than 1).

Anyway, having Redfall as a backup makes sense. If one of their other big fall games gets delayed, at least they have something to slot in there.

Most likely very different games, If one comes November and the other December I think that'd be a pretty nice 1, 2 punch.

So Starfield, Redfall, and Stalker 2 all coming during the holidays? That would be an awful strategy; they better give them more room.

There was also a story out recently that Starfield is feature complete and fully playable as of December 2021 and all that’s left now is polish and QC. I think there will be a massive gameplay reveal at E3 and the chances of it missing it’s launch date is basically 0 at this point

Zero? That sounds awfully optimistic, considering how many delays we've seen in the last two years.

Man, the inside scoops lately are really being brought by Colin and his team. Last Stand Media continuing to bring it! (For any who didn’t know? The Defining Duke Xbox podcast with MrMattyPlays and Lord Cognito is a part of Colin Moriarty’s Last Stand Media.)

Starfield alone will help Xbox to sell at least 1 million consoles in 2022s Black friday week and now they are putting 3 or maybe 4 different games AAA exclusives around the same time (Starfield, Redfall, Forza Motorsport and STALKER 2). I think each game will eat on other's player base. What happened to one first party AAA each quarter strategy.

Series X would probably sell 1 million consoles this week if MS could bring 1 million of them to market.

They just acquired Activision Blizzard so you are not wrong.

I think if Microsoft was worried they would have bought Sony out of the Deathloop and Ghostwire Tokyo exclusivity deals.

This is actually one of the reasons I believe Microsoft is benefitting the most out of the 3 console manufacturers from the parts shortages. MS first party will be firing on all cylinders right as the shortage is easing up.

I disagree here a bit. Xbox for years now has been known for having a lack of content. IMO they need to be working on dispelling that ASAP. Not waiting until the console shortages stop and then hoping that people who have sat by and watched them barely release anything of note after all these years will now invest in them because for the past few months they've done well. Meanwhile their competitors are releasing hit after hit GOTY after GOTY consistently.

I bought my 360 because of games that were coming out that were all much better than what Sony was doing at the time. I went to ps4 after that because of Xbox's used game policy and now I've seen that company fall so hard from what they were. I want to see them turn things around quickly and I don't think continuing to have this drought of games is helping them at all.

hell no, the last thing we need is more rushed games or devs under crunch. its ready when its ready

Microsoft will continue to get third party games into gamepass day 1, the series X will continue to be sold out and life goes on

Imo, it is unhealthy to start rushing and planning game release times, around other game release times, the only thing dictating your release time should be the progress of your game itself.

This ignores the realities of business. These companies don't make games for fun. They make games to generate profits. Scheduling is necessary for that.
