Aspect Chamber Series Announces Winter/Spring 2022 Season Featuring Lieder By Haydn, Handel, and the Mahlers

Aspect Chamber Music Series has announced its Winter/Spring 2022 season which includes chamber music by Ravel, Schubert, and Beethoven, among others.

In this article, vocal performances will be the focus.

Baroque and Classical specialists, Four Nations Ensemble, will present “Music of the Pleasure Gardens.” The program centers on music one might have heard in London’s pleasure gardens during the 18th century.

The evening’s lineup includes music by Bach, Handel, Haydn, Chilcot, and Battishill. Caltech professor emeritus of literature and history, John Brewer, will give a talk about the pleasure gardens and their significance in early modern England. Vocalists slated to perform are soprano Pascale Beaudin and tenor Thomas Cooley.

Performance Date: April 28, 2022, at Bohemian National Hall, New York, NY

Closing Aspect’s season will be “Alma Mahler: Muse or Monster,” with mezzo-soprano Rebecca Ringle. Onstage with Ringle will be pianists Bryan Wagorn and Adam Gorka, violinist Michelle Ross, and cellist Brook Speltz.The ensemble will explore the enigmatic composer and her impact on music and culture.

Music includes works by Alma and Gustav Mahler, Zemlinsky, and Korngold.
