Ben Roethlisberger may not have been able to pull off a stunning upset of the Kansas City Chiefs, as the Pittsburgh Steelers fell 42-21 on Sunday night. But after his final game, he received nothing but respect from everyone in attendance – including rival QB Patrick Mahomes.

The Chiefs QB spoke out on his Steelers counterpart, including what he told Ben Roethlisberger in their final on-field moment together.

Via Steelers Depot:

Patrick Mahomes to Ben Roethlisberger after the game: “I just told him I have so much respect for him. I've watched him growing, and the way he plays the game, he competes to the very end. And he did that this whole entire season.”

Not only did Mahomes share his own personal ode to Roethlisberger, he also wanted the Steelers jersey off of his back. But of course given the significance of the last jersey Big Ben will ever wear, the Chiefs star was willing to postpone their jersey swap for a later date.

“I'm gonna get one of these at some point,” said Mahomes to Roethlisberger after their final message.

“I need one too!” responded the Steelers icon as the two showed mutual respect for one another.

Wild Card tilt between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Pittsburgh Steelers went about how you'd expect, with the home team outscoring the visitors by double their point total. But the significance of this last game means more to any Steelers fan than just the final score.
