Just like the rest of the Dallas Cowboys fan base, former team quarterback Tony Romo didn't like how the Wild Card game against the San Francisco 49ers ended.

It's not that Romo is blaming anyone. The Cowboys could have done better in setting up the final play, and the referees might have some shortcomings as well. However, for the four-time Pro Bowler, it was just a frustrating ending for the home team and their fans who were hoping for that miracle to give them the victory.

In the end, Dak Prescott's rush to the middle of the field and final attempt to get the Cowboys set up for the final play doomed them, as the referee was late in spotting the ball following the scramble.

“It’s a ridiculous way for a football game to end,” Romo shared, per The Dallas Morning News.

While a lot has been said about the final play that denied the Cowboys one last chance to win the game, there is no doubt Dallas cannot look for excuses. They simply failed to live up to expectations, with the record-tying 14 penalties proving to be a major problem as well.

As Tony Romo said it, “the 49ers earned [the win], but the Cowboys hurt themselves so much.”

For what it's worth, Dak Prescott shouldered the blame for the loss to the Niners, noting that he could have been better. He admitted that they underachieved and “it sucks.”
