Gallatin County Sheriff Search and Rescue in West Yellowstone responded to a snowmobile crash on the Lionhead Trail System.
The call came in at 12:30 p.m. on Jan. 14.
Approximately 8 miles west of town, a snowmobile rider crashed into a tree while rounding a corner. The rider sustained a possible broken wrist.
Search and Rescue volunteers, Custer Gallatin National Forest Service, Montana Fish & Game, and a paramedic from the Hebgen Basin Fire responded to the call.
Responders were able to bring in a rescue sled and transport the patient to Hebgen Basin Rural Fire District EMS crew for further medical evaluation and hospital transport.
Sheriff Dan Springer reminds everyone enjoying the trails and backcountry to be cautious, as trail conditions can change quickly. For snowmobilers, slow down and always ride with a friend.
