Eddie Hearn has revealed that Canelo Alvarez will decide who his next opponent will be next week.

Canelo became the undisputed light middleweight champion of the world last time he graced the ring, having defeated Caleb Plant to win the one belt in the division which was evading him.

Ever since Canelo was triumphant, the rumour mill has been turning virtually non-stop as fans attempt to decipher who he could be fighting next – from Ilunga Makabu… to Tyson Fury.

It’s safe to say that the speculation has all become a little bit silly, but we ought to receive official communication on who Canelo intends to fight on the proposed May 7th date in due course.

Eddie Hearn revealed, quoted by boxingnews24: “Saul has been enjoying himself in Miami,” Hearn continued. I’ve seen a couple of videos going around—a well-deserved break.”

“Next week, they’re going to sit down and start talking about what’s next and who’s next.”

Whichever avenue Canelo ultimately chooses to go down, we’re sure it won’t be boring. He’s arguably the number one pound-for-pound fighter on the planet right now and has proven his willingness to fight ANYONE.

We’re eagerly anticipating official word on his next opponent…
