Alec Baldwin Turns Over His Phone to Authorities Following ‘Rust’ Incident

As investigations continue in the shooting on New Mexico’s Rust film set in October of 2021, Alec Baldwin has turned over his cellphone in the recent fatal shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.

Alec Baldwin was filming a Western movie based in 1880 Kansas, where Baldwin’s character plays outlaw Harland Rust.  His crew member wrote in a recent letter that claims falsely to allegations that the set to Rust was dangerously unsafe before the shooting of Hutchins. But during recent investigations with the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s department, Baldwin turned over his phone to authorities this past Saturday, January 15.

The Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Department issued a search warrant for Baldwin’s phone back in December. There was speculation that Baldwin may have been concerned with the possibilities of being incriminated if he deleted texts or his call history that will possibly hold him in criminal contempt. New Mexico authorities will be investigating Baldwin’s text messages, emails, and social network in the examination of Hutchins’s death.

Baldwin’s civil attorney Aaron Dyer told People in a recent interview: “Alec voluntarily provided his phone to the authorities this morning so they can finish their investigation. But this matter isn’t about his phone, and there are no answers on his phone.” Baldwin has denied that he did pull the trigger, and he expressed his heartfelt sympathy towards Halyna Hutchins and has said that he will do anything to help in the investigations of her death.
