Former five-star Alabama recruit Drew Sanders is staying in the SEC West.

The linebacker is headed to Arkansas, he announced Sunday, after entering the transfer portal Tuesday. He’s the second to make that call Sunday after former teammate Paul Tyson picked Arizona State.

Sanders, a five-star prospect in the 2020 class, was a starter following Christopher Allen’s injury in the season opener. An October hand injury sidelined Sanders for a month as five-star freshman Dallas Turner stepped in and excelled in the outside linebacker role opposite Will Anderson.

Sanders reportedly also visited Texas and Oklahoma since entering the transfer portal a day after Alabama lost to Georgia in the national title game. He was one of eight to depart since title championship game and the third to pick a new destination.

Three others entered the portal before the season ended, moving the total to 11 total departures from the roster that opened the season.
